The Lay of Teyme

(Traditional)

 Home

From Ganthos, far in Varmagon, set out tall Earl of Teyme

The mighty Rorqas, lord of War, for conquest once again

An army vast beyond compare rode on that fated trail

A myriad swords in battle marched upon the Sacred Vale

In search of wealth had every man set out from Varmagon

Every man, save Rorqas Teyme - desire drove him on

For in the Vale of Temvalee dwelt Cæra, queen alone

Of beauty such that Rorqas sought to claim her for his own

She daughter fair of Arlenak, last Lord of Essexdale

And Arranoth, once Lun-Darn's Queen, and Mistress of the Vale

Now Cæra ruled proud Lun-Darn Town, last bastion of the Wise

Held fast against the lusts of men with conquest in their eyes

So Rorqas came to Temvalee, its City heart to seek

Yet, as the last came through the Pass, they heard fierce Lun-Darn speak!

The detonation, short and sharp, did shake the very ground

The awsome flame of Cæra's wrath was seen for miles around

Thus Rorqas and his paltry force did quietly pass away

Yet in the Vale their bodies stand unto this very day

For proton bombs do funny things to human skin and bone

So seek out Rorqas, carve your name...upon that face of stone
